Scholarship Opportunities:
FROM THE CRIMINAL LAW SECTION
The Board of the Criminal Law Section has voted to earmark $3,000 of section funds to provide tuition scholarships (up to $125 per CLE) for publicly employed section member attorneys, i.e., public defenders and district attorneys, and for contract defenders for the balance for 2008.
To apply for a scholarship:
(1) Be sure you are a section member — if you are not, you may join on-line by going to www.NMBar.org or by calling the State Bar (Christine or Tony) and requesting a form that you may return to the Bar with your Section dues ($20);
(2) Send an e-mail to Kim Middlebrooks at k.middlebrooks@comcast.net and include your name, bar number, address and telephone number, whether you are a public defender, district attorney, or contract defender, the name and date of the CLE for which you seek a scholarship, and the CLE provider, including its address. (NMCDLA, P.O. Box 8324, Santa Fe, NM 87504)
The Section will pay tuition directly to the CLE provider on your behalf.
From the NMCDLA Carlos Vigil Scholarship Fund
The NMCDLA also offers partial scholarships to CLEs in New Mexico honoring Carlos Vigil, a former NMCDLA member (thanks to generous members).
Send an email to NMCDLA at info@nmcdla.org describing your need for a scholarship which will be forwarded to CLE co-chairs for decision.
